Multidisciplinary Designer focused on Strategy and Innovation

Vera Alalu

Design, for me, is more than creation; it’s a language. And when we understand and empathise with the culture behind that language, we can help people, businesses, and communities grow. There is no “good” or “bad” design, only the ability to recognise and respond to each unique context.

Being a designer feels like part of my DNA. Since I was young, I’ve spoken the language of design through curiosity, empathy, and constant questioning of my surroundings. I’m passionate about exploring trends, imagining future scenarios, and using service design as a way to uncover the personal design language behind every project and client. Critical thinking is central to my process; it helps me ask better questions, embrace diverse perspectives, and craft intentional, thoughtful solutions.

I was born and raised in Peru, a country rich in culture, extraordinary food, vibrant textiles, and exquisite fibers. That heritage gave me a distinct way of seeing the world and laid the foundation for everything I create.

I pursued a Bachelor of Design at IE University, where I explored various disciplines and learned to apply methodologies through a hands-on, multidisciplinary approach. More importantly, IE exposed me to people from all over the world, allowing me to develop new creative languages through collaboration and cultural exchange. During my academic exchange at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, I deepened my understanding of how design, technology, and business intersect, and how powerful it is to co-create across disciplines and borders. That experience taught me that design brings people together, and there’s nothing more exciting than building bold, scary ideas with others who are just as passionate.
