RE-CREATING THE SCANTLING LAMP
PRODUCT DESIGN
The design concept is centered around the Mathias Hahn Scantling Lamp, which serves as the primary source of inspiration. The objective of this project was to create a lamp that seamlessly blends sustainable materials with functionality and aesthetic appeal.
To achieve this goal, the project proposes the repurposing of recycled PVC tubes for the lamp's cylindrical component. Wood was chosen for the lamp's structural elements, with wood joints primarily used for attaching the pieces, supplemented by screws for reinforcement. The wood used in the project was reclaimed or leftover wood, aligning with the sustainability focus of the design. Additionally, the bottom of the lamp was crafted from a repurposed cheese cutter, adding a unique and playful touch to the design.
By integrating these sustainable materials and repurposed elements, the lamp not only embodies eco-conscious design principles but also presents a visually striking and functional lighting solution.
