RESEARCH & EXPERIMENTATION

As a group project, we embarked on the creation of a sustainable initiative called BioBeads. We were spurred to action by realizing the environmental impact caused by the rising popularity of fast-fashion jewellery made from plastic beads. These plastic beads contribute to plastic pollution, as they persist in the environment indefinitely, creating lasting harm.

To address this issue, we conducted experiments to develop biodegradable beads. Our experiments involved testing various materials, including agar agar, glycerin, water, and natural pigments, to achieve the desired results. Through careful experimentation and iteration, we successfully created BioBeads that met our criteria for sustainability and functionality.

BioBeads are designed to align with fast fashion trends while offering a sustainable alternative. These beads dissolve seamlessly into nature once they are disposed of by the user, mitigating the environmental impact associated with traditional plastic beads.

Our collaborative effort allowed us to leverage diverse perspectives and skills, leading to the successful development of BioBeads. By working together, we were able to innovate and address a pressing environmental issue, contributing positively to our planet's health and sustainability.
